Back in February of this year I posted that I was going to try to rationalize my online presence. It's been a struggle as I experiment with a variety of tools. That's not likely to change - but I have made some progress this evening. I've spent the last two hours importing (i.e. cutting and pasting) all of my content from my old Movabletype site to this Drupal powered site. It's amazing how bare the MT export format truly is.

Michelle returned from her French class trip to France (and England) this past week. Her flight from France was 40 minutes ahead of schedule arriving in to Newark, NJ. Unfortunately, the plane for her flight from Newark to Dayton could not leave until 2:00 AM on Thursday morning. I picked her up shortly before 4:00 in the morning. (I wasn't much use the next day).
In any event, she appears to have had a good trip. She's posted some pictures over on her Photobucket site.

2008 Olympics

The 2008 Olympics will be noteworthy for a variety of reasons. The games are being conducted during one of those periods in history when advances in technology allow us to not only see things in new and different ways but also manage the weather during the Olympics.

Tim Ferris does his best anti-cooking channel impression cooking his current favorite breakfast. I would normally just put this on my Del.icio.us link list, but this is so god awful sounding that I have to try it. I hate cleaning up after cooking so that part of the rationale behind this works for me.

Consolidating My Online Presence

This will be my first post in this new space. I'm accomplishing several things here:

  1. Rationalizing my online presence by reducing the number of places my original content appears.
  2. Reducing the cost to operate the various web sites with which I entertain myself.

Passport Ordeal

I received a call from a local resident asking about my ordeal getting a passport for Matt. Apparently my wife has shared how we were able to work through the process to get the passport with a good many people. Word has gotten out and now I'm a 'resource'.

The biggest problem is that the bureaucracy is under extreme pressure. Too few people are attempting to deal with too many requests. No one is left to tell everyone what they are supposed to be doing. (I'll illustrate that point better below.)
